share your message and write your book.
Begins April 16, 2018

To find out if this is your next step, listen in on the Who Should Write a Book - And What Stops You teleconference, recorded live on February 28th.
A life and business-transforming process led by
Kristine Carlson & Debra Evans
A special message from Kristine and Debra:
Hello fellow Writers,
Have you always dreamed of writing a book? Wouldn’t it feel so amazing to hold that finished book in your hands? Maybe it’s a memoir, or a how-to handbook of your expertise; maybe it’s a collection of letters for your kids to read, or a book of spiritual inspiration. There are so many types of books but each one equally special, each creating a ripple effect in the world.
Kristine Carlson is an acclaimed author, teacher, and co-creator of the Don't Sweat the Small stuff series with her late husband, Dr. Richard Carlson.
You may feel hesitant at this point to begin writing your book; it can be daunting to even think about getting started. It’s easy to lose momentum and give up before you even begin. That’s why this year, for the first time, we’ll be bringing our combined forty years of experience in writing and publishing transformational books to guide twelve clients through birthing their own book, and we would be honored and excited to lead you through this life-changing process.
Kristine & Debra
Debra Evans is a developmental book editor whose projects include four books with her late mentor, New York Times best-selling author Debbie Ford.
Birthing a book is about allowing a dream to come forward -- and fulfilling that dream.
It’s also an opportunity to share with the world your experience, knowledge, and expertise;
your wisdom, strength, and light.
Four days gathered together at a sacred site ... this is how we will set the tone
for the extraordinary journey of bringing your book into the world.
The view of Mt. Shasta from Kristine's retreat house
What dream is waiting to be born? What medicine is within your message? What is the legacy you are here to share, now and for generations to come?
Sharing four inspiring days together in the epic beauty of Kristine’s Mt. Shasta retreat home, this weekend will fill you with clarity of purpose in writing your book. You will return home with a powerful connection to the support team that will remain at your side for the months to come, and your soul creatively on fire. (See more retreat and program details below.)
You can expect that writing a book is a lot like birthing a baby. But in this context, rather than nine months from conception to manifestation, your birthing process will be quickened. This six month mastermind process will help you from the inception of your idea to the final push of your finished manuscript.
The 4-Day Retreat at Mt. Shasta: The Creative Incubator
May 17 - 20, 2018
During the 4-day retreat at Mt. Shasta, taking place four weeks in to the program, we will come together to take your beginning book concept and initial writings to greater depths and heights. Nestled away together in Kristine's gorgeous retreat house, there will be a wonderful flow between wildly inspirational group sessions, productive writing sessions, and the space to unwind and dream about the impact you would like your book to have. We will also work together to remove any blocks you may have to writing your dream book and replace them with a powerful new vision for yourself as an author. By the conclusion of the weekend, you will leave with a greater sense of clarity, purpose, and mission.
Phase I: Conception & Miraculous Growth
The First 3 Months: mid April - mid July
The initial process of conceiving the idea for your book, or clarifying the idea you've been incubating for some time, takes some preparation. We will begin by listening to the heartbeat of what is calling you to share. Gestation, as it applies to your book, is the time of growth and development ---- the ripening of your ideas as they take form. The primary focuses and outcomes of this phase include the following:
Creating space for inspiration ---- prioritizing the things that awaken and enliven you, and nurturing the writer ---- ensuring that your body is a finely tuned instrument.
Creating a powerful structure for your book --- writing an outline that sets you up for a successful writing process.
Understanding the anatomy of a best-seller, including:
the imperative of showing vs. telling
how to write emotionally evocative stories
how to build an intimate rapport with your readers
discovering the power of writing for yourself
how to make the most of the writer-editor relationship
impeccability vs. perfectionism
Writing your first three chapters --- In Phase I, your writer's voice will emerge. With a clear structure and writing plan in place, we will work closely with you to write a minimum of three chapters by mid-July. These three chapters will lay the groundwork for the rest of your book and are at the heart of the book proposal that will be a catalyst for the success of your book (see next bullet point).
Writing a book proposal --- With our proprietary book proposal template, our proven strategy for attaining a publishing contract, we will guide you in the process of writing an exceptional book proposal by the end of Phase I. Even for those who may ultimately choose to self-publish, the book proposal is an invaluable tool for articulating the story about your book, your body of work, and yourself in ways that will be critical in the marketing and promotion of your book.
Exploring your publishing options --- While writing your book proposal, we will also delve into the pros and cons of both publishing worlds: traditional publishing and self-publishing, assessing which is the best path to success for your unique book.
PHASE I RECAP: By the conclusion of Phase I, you will have:
1) An outstanding title and subtitle that clearly reflects the promise & key message of your book.
2) The complete chapter outline of your book.
3) A minimum of three beautifully written and edited chapters.
4) A book proposal that sells.
5) A team of fellow writers and colleagues behind you to support your greatest success.
Phase II: Birthing Your Book into the World
The Final 3 Months: mid July - mid October
This summer and early fall will be a time of blissful productivity and accomplishment. Even in the midst of your busy life, you will experience the joy of seeing your book fully realized. In addition to Kristine's ongoing mentorship, you will continue to work closely with Debra as she provides specific editing guidance each week. She will tend to every paragraph and page with you, helping you to write a book that you will be proud of.
In addition to continuing a journey of transformation and discovery together, the practical focuses of this phase include the following:
Writing 2.0 ---- continuing on with the regular writing assignments and editing sessions that you began in Phase I. During this final phase, we will work with you to successfully complete the first draft of your book by October 15th.
Planning and beginning to prepare for your book launch --- what to expect while you’re expecting!
Gathering your circle of support ---- how to successfully request endorsement quotes from author friends and colleagues.
SPECIAL NOTE: For those who will be pursuing the traditional publishing route and have a growing platform, we offer an optional add-on service of personally outreaching to our roster of top literary agents.
PHASE II RECAP: By the conclusion of Phase II, you will have:
1) A completed manuscript, along with the book proposal written during Phase I.
2) A clear plan and strategy for publishing your book.
3) An initial plan for launching and promoting your book when it's ready for release.
4) A team of people behind you who will support the growth and evolution of your work.
